Wheelchair and Visually Impaired Divisions
Wheelchair Athletes
Our proposed course is fully accessible and paved 100% of the way, making it suitable for wheelchair athletes. However, please note that due to Whistler's topography the course is not flat.
As all athletes will follow the same course please familiarize yourself with some of the course characteristics described on our The Course page. There are hills, some which may be challenging in a wheelchair, strong speed control skills for the downhill sections are required. Curb cuts and ramps will be used where needed to make transitions as smooth as possible. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishers overall in the wheelchair division. | Visually Impaired Athletes
Athletes registering in the visually impaired division are required to run with a guide. The guide does not have to pay the registration fee, but will be required to sign a waiver at package pick up so please ensure that the guide attends.
All athletes do follow the same course, and although the course is 100% paved, there are some transition areas from road to paved trail that guides will need to watch for and anticipate for the safety of their runner and others on course. Our course design aims to minimize or eliminate the smallest of obstacles, however roadways and pathways can have uneven surfaces. Prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers overall in the visually impaired division. |
