Getting To Whistler

Getting Here Is Half The Fun

Picture
Whether it takes you 5 minutes or 5 days  - getting here is half the fun!  There are a number of different modes of transportion available to get you to events, from public transit if you are already here in Whistler, to driving, flying in a float plane, scheduled motorcoach from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) or downtown, and even the train.

However you get here, you will know when you have arrived.  Whistler's beautiful pedestrian village is surrounded by some of the best scenery that mother nature could offer.  So Run Whistler, make a weekend of it, and get away from it all - Run For The Hills.

DRIVING

Whistler is located a scenic 90 minute drive north of Vancouver along the jaw-dropping Sea To Sky Highway.  A recently completed $600 million upgrade makes the Sea To Sky Highway one of the most impressive drives on the planet, ask anyone who has done it.  Leaving the coastal city of Vancouver, the highway makes it's way over towering bluffs above Howe Sound, and hugs rocky coves at the water's edge.  Half way to Whistler is the community of Squamish, famous amongst the climbing community for it's massive granite monolith - The Chief.  As you leave Squamish the highway begins to climb from sea level to the Village of Whistler at an elevation of 2200 feet above sea level.  Breathtaking views of glacier clad peaks, jagged canyons, and rushing rivers soothe the senses making you feel that you are getting away from it all.

FLOAT PLANE

Whistler is accessible by daily scheduled float plane service from Vancouver Harbour (Downtown) with Whistler Air and Victoria's inner harbour with Westcoast Air.  Flying to Whistler is a trip of lifetime soaring over the coastal waters of the Pacific and towering peaks for the Coast Mountains - this is the stuff dreams are made of.

MOTORCOACH

Multiple daily departures from Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and downtown Vancouver with Pacific Coach Lines, make getting to Whistler a breeze.  Leave the driving to someone else and enjoy the ride, take photos as the world passes by, or simply take a nap - after all you may want a bit extra energy once you get here.

TRAIN

Rocky Mountaineer Railtours offers train service to Whistler from it's North Vancouver station during the summer months.  A classic rail journey, the views of Sea to Sky country combined with the luxury service and atmosphere on board,  rival the most famous train rides anywhere in the world.  Put your feet up and  enjoy the awe-inspiring scenery.
