FRIDAY, June 1 2018
START: 3:30pm and 5:00PM - Meet at the CLIF tent at Athlete HQ - Whistler Olympic Plaza
FINISH: Whistler Olympic Plaza
Registration Fee: FREE
Choose Your Adventure (CYA) Guided Trail Runs, presented by CLIF are your chance to see more of what makes Whistler an awesome run destination. Guided runs will be led by local coach and running aficionado, John Blok. Joining John will be legendary Canadian runner Gary Robbins, and one of the inspiring CLIF PACE team members that you will see out on course for the half marathon the next day.
There are two runs to choose from, including an easier, less hilly (there is very little flat running in Whistler!) paved with some gravel sections. The other offers more of a challenge with some technical single track but still easily done the day prior to racing.
Each route will have opportunities for taking in the beautiful scenery, photographs, and some local story sharing by our guides.
With the CLIF PACE team member, you can get tips to maximize your race day the following morning, hear how the pace team works, and shake out those muscles one last time.
Gary Robbins is based in North Vancouver, BC. Over the last decade and a half Gary has etched out a living for himself in the sport of ultra distance trail running. Gary is the first and only Canadian to have completed the Nolan's 14ers in Colorado, a nearly 100 mile long route consisting of 14 consecutive 14,000ft peaks. He also holds the course record at the notoriously difficult HURT 100 in Hawaii, and is the fastest person to have circumnavigating Mt. Rainier in WA. His latest mission is to become the first Canadian to finish the Barkley Marathons, an ongoing pursuit now heading into its fourth year.
